deena ylana ܕܝܢܵܐ ܐܳܝܠܳܢܳܐ (b. 1992) is a multimodal artist, poet & cultural researcher. she also publishes music & multimedia poetry under the name anadeena.

deena is a firt-generation assyrian-iraqi feminist. her childhood spent immersed in the music, poetry, grief & mysticism of the ancient church of the east revealed a deeper connection to her ethnoreligious lineages. deena researches & writes about the feminine origins & wisdoms of ancient syriac christianity & gnosticism. she also explores the mystical, astrological & cosmological wisdoms of the ancient near east.

deena writes in english, syriac & spanish.

themes & motifs in her poetry include anti-patriarchal subversion, nature’s magnificence, divinity within, & narrative medicinal approaches to trauma.

deena works in collaboration with musicians & producers to write songs & create multimedia poetry. she is based in the san francisco bay area & travels often. she authors GNOSTIC FEMINOLOGY & SYRIAC MUSIC ARCHIVE on substack.
