deena ana is a multimodal artist, poet & researcher based on unceded lands of turtle island's west coast. she is an mfa candidate researching narrative medicine, poetics & auto-ethnography.

deena’s work is rooted in her roots as a daughter of the ancient church of the east & its music. this lived experience birthed passions for anti-patriarchal/subversive feminism, decolonized mysticism, anti-imperialist social justice & reclaimed feminine narratives of syriac & gnostic history.

deena’s mother tongue is eastern syriac, a dialect of aramaic. she also speaks some spanish. deena was raised & educated in the san francisco bay area where she worked across industries & remained a longtime student/practitioner of decolonial history & the arts. she writes in syriac, english & spanish.

deena has engaged in international mutual aid efforts for over a decade, from central america to west asia to the uk to streets of her local community. she is a founding member of the assyrian movement for collective liberation. she lives with longtime chronic illnesses & physical dissabilities that drive meaningful engagement where health & politics critically intersect. deena is a collaborator & advocate for nisaba charity in the uk, which provides menstrual products, reproductive health & wellness resources for migrants. she also advocates for prosthetics for palestine, which provides 3d-printed lower limb prosthetics for amputees in gaza.

today deena is composing her first collection of written works while also creating original poetry x musical collaborations. she also writes songs, records vocals & produces events. deena authors gnostic feminology on substack & is the founding editor of syriac archive.
